This is my first post. Now it’s for real!
I’d like to invite you to learn a bit about what Retirement Plan is and what we’re aiming for. I hope it resonates with you.
Here on the site, and soon on social media too, I’ll share news, articles, devlogs, joys and frustrations. I want it to be worth your time whether you love playing games, or you’re a dev thinking about making your own, or you’re already on this journey with me.
Programming is my day job, but I’ve always loved 3D art and always wanted to make games. I have lots of ideas and several prototypes, and I felt it was time to bring them to life.
The first one is COLD VAULT, a turn-based strategy game for 1 to 4 players: you against other people, against the AI, or a mix of both. It’s inspired by the classic MoonBase Commander (2002) and takes the idea into cyberspace, where factions fight inside a network over the data stored in Vaults. What it inherited from the original is the part I like most: sending your units takes skill.
So far it has taken many, many nights to refine the rules, build the concept art, and bring it all out of Blender and into Unity as faithfully as possible. There’s still a long way to go, so I invite you to follow along. But relax: it’ll be ready when it’s ready. No rush.
See you soon.
