Retirement plan: make games.
Retirement Plan is an independent game development studio from Brazil.
Everyone has a plan for when they stop working. Ours is to work on what we love most.
The name comes from a joke with some truth in it. Whenever retirement came up, the answer here was always the same: sell coconuts on the beach or make little games. The coconuts stayed a joke. The games didn't. Retirement is still a way off, but the plan has already started.
The urge to make games was always there. Then came many years of programming and a long-standing love of 3D art. In 2026 the joke became Retirement Plan: a long-term project, in no hurry and with no expiry date, made by people who plan to keep doing this for many years.
The brand's look comes from the '80s, when video games became part of people's lives: arcades, a synthwave sun, tube screens.
Games teach, in the right dose
Making a game is an exceptional exercise in programming, logic, math and creativity. At university we learn complex math that almost never shows up in everyday programming. In a game, it all shows up, and all of it matters.
We also believe playing helps you grow, as long as it's in the right dose, like everything in life. Around here, English was self-taught, to beat levels and to read foreign game magazines, which had far more tips than the local ones. And programming came from wanting to understand how a game is made.
What bothers us about games today
Some games are so realistic they stop being fun. There are exceptions, of course, but realism isn't the same as fun.
This is the big one. We're parents, and finding good games for our kids is really hard. The stores are packed with games full of ads, often inappropriate ones, and games where kids only progress if they buy coins or items. Without them, the game is made “boring” on purpose.
Online events that make you be in the game on a certain day and time, or the reward is gone. So kids miss dinner or drop other activities for an “unmissable appointment”.
What to expect from us
Smart and fun
In all our games, fun comes before realism, because a good game doesn't just entertain, it makes you think.
Pay once and the game is yours
No ads, no in-game store, no coins to buy. What you pay for is the whole game.
Clear about who each game is for
Some games are for all ages, others just for kids. Each one says clearly who it was made for, so you know what you're getting before you buy.
Made calmly
Small studio, small scope, big polish. It ships when it's ready, and we share the journey in devlogs.
Who's at the controls
Has played since the Atari, has programmed for many years and loves making 3D art.
FAVORITE GAME: FULL THROTTLELets the world know we exist: social media, press and everything that leaves the studio.
FAVORITE GAME: REAL LIFEPlays everything before everyone else. If it isn't fun, the game goes back to the drawing board.
FAVORITE GAME: ENDLINGFinds the bug nobody found and still asks for one more level.
FAVORITE GAME: PK XDKeeps us company, asks for cuddles, licks the air and poops in the wrong place.
FAVORITE GAME: FETCHAn artist, musician or dev who wants to make games calmly? Say hi.
